I’m Charles Murphy reporting. Three criminal charges were dropped against 51 year old Susan Kelly of Henry County. She had been charged with battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and use of a firearm during a felony. Those charges again dropped on March 31st. Kelly was involved in a domestic disturbance. Her husband came home and found her in a bedroom with another male. A verbal altercation began and Kelly allegedly struck and pushed the victim out of the home into the garage. Kelly allegedly grabbed a screwdriver and attempted to stab the victim, according to the arrest report. The victim also claimed Kelly had a revolver. The other man claimed he was on the property only to do yard work and didn’t enter the home, according to the arrest affidavit. 45 year old Jermaine Hale of Clewiston facing rape charges. He allegedly forced himself on a girl he had taken out to the club gossip in Harlem. The woman says repeatedly she said she didn’t want to have sexual relations with him and that he forced her. Morehaven City Council agreed to forgive some fees for utility bills. Residents say they got their bills late due to the post office. Councilwoman Alicia Becks had support and compassion for those getting late fees. We have to remember that we’re also a business, and I don’t believe that Verizon or CenturyLink or DirecTV calls the member and says, hey, you know, sorry you didn’t get your bill in the mail, but, you know, we’ll give you an extra three or four days. So I just want to remind the board that these things are set in place for a reason. Morehaven also was recently sued in a slip and fall claim involving a bicyclist on the U.S. 27 overpass. Former Miami Dolphin Kendall Newsom wants to help a Hokie with his teach a kid to fish program, he says, is the way to give back to his hometown. Pahokee has one of the largest freshwater lakes in the country, which is Lake Okeechobee, which is the backdrop is a beautiful lake. It’s an opportunity for us through my organization, Teach a Child to Fish, the NFL, to come back into Pahokee to do events. He says the NFL program teaches and provides the equipment. He says it promotes life skills and a love of the outdoors. If you give a child a fish, he’s going to eat for a day or she’s going to eat for a day. But if we all teach a child to fish, we’re going to eat for a lifetime. The city of Pahokee recognized Jameria Richardson. She captured the 2025 Class 1A 4×400 state championship. She is the USA national champion in 200 and 400 meter races. In 2026, she’s the Class 1A 400 meter class champion, and she is a 14 time junior Olympic champion. She’s been the Pahokee High School track MVP for the last four years. A Belle Glade man, Eloy Villareal, is facing charges of ammunition by a convicted felon. In July, he was stopped on State Road 715 for a traffic violation. He told the deputy he did not have a valid driver’s license and had never obtained one. A records check revealed his driving privilege had been revoked 11 years. They also found some marijuana in the vehicle. Deputies say they found 27 grams of ecstasy and over 11 grams of oxycodone in the vehicle, along with nearly 100 grams of marijuana, along with a small amount of cash. Evidence from that stop resulted in a search warrant of an apartment at 1209 West Avenue. One suspect was taken into custody for resisting arrest. They found two firearms inside that residence. They were able to tie Villareal to that weapon through DNA evidence. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
