I’m Charles Murphy reporting a fatality in Belle Glade. It happens in the 900 block of Duda Road. The accident reported just after 6 a.m. on Thursday. Palm Beach deputies did not identify the black male who died. He was driving a 2016 Nissan. The other vehicle was a 1998 international truck driven by 34 year old Adolfo Gonzales Sanchez. The victim died at the scene. Governor Ron DeSantis is going to lift the gas tax in Florida for a while because of the skyrocketing fuel prices. He says he can’t promise a huge savings if the gas tax holiday is put into place this year. When we did that last time, I think the legislature was less than impressed on the results. And quite frankly, we weren’t as happy because what happened was the tax would go down, but then the gas stations largely raised the price. A clueless man facing a host of charges in Seffner in Hillsborough County. Forty nine year old Wallace Stewart charged with resisting arrest, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, also possession of an electronic weapon or taser. A sheriff’s canine was called to a traffic stop in Seffner, but the defendant refused to step out of his vehicle. They found some methamphetamine inside the vehicle, according to the arrest report. A Belgrade man is charged with trafficking in controlled substances. A SWAT team from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 542 Southwest Second Street last Thursday and secured Jadarius Tyler. While searching him, they found two clear bags that included suspected marijuana and ecstasy or MDMA. They said they came up with about 13.4 grams of the drug. A Belgrade man driving down the road, State 715 and South Main Street, thought he was smelling smoke from a cane burn. Actually, his Ford Ranger was on fire. Twenty seven year old Marco Flores was able to stop the vehicle and get out without injury. There was a pistol in the vehicle and the ammunition could be heard cooking before the flames could be put out. A Pahokee man, Kenneth Murph, suffered a serious leg injury after he was struck by a train. The accidental injury report was filled out by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say they found Murph lying beside the train tracks and that his left leg appeared deformed. The incident report said Murph stated he had been on the side of the train when he fell and then the train ran over his foot. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue transported him to Lakeside Medical Center. A South Bay man, Lenore Barrett, is facing multiple charges of criminal mischief for allegedly damaging several vehicles. Palm Beach deputies wrote five separate incident reports in the 500 block of Southwest 14th Street in Belgrade. The vehicles had shattered headlights, broken side mirrors, damaged tail lights, broken windows and other destruction. They included a 2018 GMC Sierra, 2016 Peterbilt truck, a 2013 Ford, a 2004 Toyota Corolla and a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder. The alleged vandalism took place on April 30th during the overnight hours. Residents could hear smashing and banging and called the law. As much as $10,000 in damages may have been done. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
