I’m Charles Murphy reporting. An investigation into threats against Hendry County Sheriff’s employees after officer-involved shooting has resulted in two arrests. Deputies traveled as far away as El Paso, Texas to arrest 40-year-old Calvin Miller over the weekend. He allegedly made 150 calls to the Sheriff’s Office administrative staff. He was quoted as saying, you think you’re going to blow my brother away and I’m not going to settle the score. He threatened the staff, including the female who had answered the phone. A second arrest was made over the weekend in Lee County. Larry Jerome Davenport, I had led, a 48-year-old, is alleged to have made threats in the shooting of Edward Young saying, find out the killer’s name. More than likely he has a social media account. He went on Facebook saying it has to be an eye for an eye, a life for a life. He also advocated finding their home residence and shooting their wife’s job and even their kid’s school. Sheriff Steve Whitten promised to fully investigate these threats. Threats have been made against deputies involved in this incident and let me be perfectly clear, if you make a criminal threat to kill or harm one of these deputies or anyone else, we will investigate it and when the evidence establishes that a crime has been committed, we will take every lawful step available to identify the person responsible and hold them accountable. Congressman in the 9th District, Aaron Soto, has been redistricted to Glades County in a much more Republican district. He’s facing Republican Dan Green. 58% of voters in the new district supported President Donald Trump. Soto says Democrats are accepting the new congressional district maps for now. You know, it did violate the Constitution, but we’re now, after the courts have approved it temporarily, you know, we have to move on and we need to focus on what’s important for all these different areas. He says he’ll continue working to improve the lives of his constituents. I’m someone who focuses on bread and butter issues, on economic issues, on ag issues, on making sure we have clean water and places for recreation, things that I think Floridians care about. A 30-year-old from Clewiston, Brian Peralta, is facing battery and other charges. Henry County Sheriff Deputies called to a disturbance and found two windows on the front of the home broken. They found the suspect intoxicated and very uncooperative. He said the damage was done during the hurricanes of 2024. A Moorhaven man behind bars in Glades County on charges of grand theft auto, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license. A disabled vehicle started the incident at the Love’s Travel Stop on 27. They found the vehicle parked in the roadway with a slice off in the middle of the night near Love’s gas station. This at 3 30 in the morning. The driver then made a u-turn at a slow rate of speed before finally coming to stop. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Lake County. A LaBelle man is facing charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon involving a firearm. The disturbance on Lob Lollie Bay Road. The suspect got into a verbal altercation with the victim. He allegedly made threats to commit a murder suicide at the residence. The pistol was found loaded with two nine millimeter rounds and other pistols were located at that location.
