I’m Charles Murphy reporting an 18-year-old LaBelle girl. An 18-year-old LaBelle woman, Adriana Ramirez, is charged with culpable negligence. It’s alleged she grabbed the wheel of a vehicle causing an accident on State Road 80 between Henry and Lee counties. She had been arguing with her boyfriend, and as she struck the boyfriend during an argument, the vehicle went off the road and struck a guardrail. One person was injured and treated by Henry County EMS. Several witnesses saw her grab and turn the steering wheel of the moving vehicle. A 62-year-old Moorhaven man, Charles Wright, facing charges that include DUI. Glades County deputies say it was a report of a reckless driver on a golf cart. The complaint advised that Wright actively attempted to evade law enforcement in an area known as the Camp on Thomas Street. Deputies also spotted the golf cart make several traffic violations like running through stop signs. Deputies say he had a blood alcohol of .226. He was also issued three traffic citations. U.S. Sugar filing a lawsuit against D&J Machinery. They claim they purchased nine Harvest dump wagons from the firm in January of 2023, paying them $346,000. The total price is close to half a million. They claim they have never received any of these wagons. The main claim is breach of contract and unjust enrichment. A newly formed company has purchased 277 acres on Helms Road in LaBelle for $7.5 million at 2005 State Road 29, Dynasty 275. A Southwest Florida landholding group has longstanding regional construction and real estate interest. A Pahokee man, Marquevious Twickland, is facing felony battery charges. After he refused a trespass warning at a Belle Glade store, several employees asked him to leave, but he refused. The incident was caught on store video. He allegedly struck a female cashier. Henry County conducting aerial adult mosquito control operations through Thursday of this week. A poor St. Lucie man, Eric Hunter, clocked going 120 in a 60 mph zone in Moorhaven. He was charged under the Florida Super Speeder Law. They also recovered a Glock handgun in the vehicle. An Oga Chewy man arrested for the second time in a month on the Brighton-Seminoe Indian Reservation for alleged traffic charges. Billy Bailey was seen by Seminole police in a blue Volkswagen. The vehicle did not stop right away. On Reservation Road, Bailey, a front seat passenger, attempted to flee on foot. He was tased by officers, once while running on the pavement and once in a grassy ditch area. Charges against Bailey include fleeing from a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. A Belle Glade man, part of an 8-year-old’s murder, is facing new charges. Larry and Johnson allegedly smuggled a dangerous weapon into the Palm Beach County Jail. They spotted some suspicious activity from the inmate via the dormitory camera and found a homemade weapon made of metal and sharpened to a point known as a shank. Johnson was 19 back in February of 2022 when he started firing gunshots and the 8-year-old girl was killed. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
