I’m Charles Murphy reporting some traffic impacts again at the LaBelle Bridge between today and Monday. Motorists should expect periodic one-way traffic and flagging operations during the middle of the day between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and short duration closures of the bridge. They’re promising less than 15 minutes. During the overnight hours between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. FDOT will be making final adjustments, installing sensors and performing load testing on the bridge. The 17-ton load restriction on the LaBelle Bridge remains in place for commercial vehicles and they must use the designated truck detour route through US 27. U.S. Sugar has been sued in a negligence lawsuit over a traffic accident by Diego Filippone. They’re seeking over $50,000 in damage and demanding a jury trial. They say the accident occurred on October 3rd of 2025 on Evercane Road not far from Highway 27. They claim an employee of U.S. Sugar was in custody of a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado in the accident with the main claims being negligence. They’re seeking damages for among other things medical bills. Florida CFO Blazing Golia says Palm Beach County wasted $1.2 billion in tax revenue since 2020. He uses population growth and inflation to determine how much the county budget should go up. He says corruption like this will be referred to FDLE. How does it go up a billion dollars for 76,000? If you were to put people away in jail for mismanaging taxpayer dollars there would be nobody in Congress because they would all be behind bars. He says the county is not paying attention to taxpayers. Palm Beach County not did not only heed the warning of a tax revolt because of wasteful spending they doubled down on the wasteful and excessive spending. Local government unfortunately is growing faster than the taxpayers ability to pay for it. Palm Beach County firemen in Belle Glade back in April of 2025 were able to save people trapped inside a burning structure with heavy smoke and heat inside with no visibility. They recently honored those firefighters who removed two people safely from the home. All of the firemen received fire ground save awards. The Glades County schools have been sued in an alleged school bus accident. The suit filed by Jason Lassiter originally in county court recently moved to circuit court. The jurisdiction of the court is $50,000. The FBI in Florida is reminding our senior citizens that there are plenty of people wanting to take their money with scams on the internet and by phone call. Special agent in the fraud division Zachariah Baldwin says you can’t let these callers pressure you into snap decisions. Stop, slow down and think this may not be a legitimate company. If this has happened to you or someone you know file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov. Florida lost $8.5 billion last year to scams.
