I’m Charles Murphy reporting. A Henry County car salesman is charged with defrauding a customer out of $3,500. Henry County Sheriff detectives say 47-year-old Sean Spreen was charged with forgery of a public record or certificate and third-degree grand theft. The victim bought a vehicle earlier this year and put a down payment down of $5,000 in cash. The salesman claimed it was only $1,500. Detectives were able to get their hands on surveillance camera footage from his office and that showed the $5,000 payment. A Palm Beach Sheriff SWAT team brought into arrest 21-year-old Davin Williams for an armed robbery charge. There was a short standoff before his arrest on Southwest Avenue B. Clewiston Police helped break the case with a traffic stop in March. Street cameras were able to locate the subject’s vehicle at the time of a robbery in Loxahatchee Groves. The arrest affidavit said the victim was peddling a bicycle to a nearby taco stand when two subjects in a vehicle cut him off, got out of the vehicle, pointed handguns at him, and stole his wallet and bank cards. When the victim resisted, he was pistol whipped. There was no word of him being hospitalized. Clewiston Police say they seized a handgun in their traffic stop connected to the crime. A Clewiston man charged in Palm Beach County with voyeurism. Palm Beach deputies say 49-year-old Centurius Wright allegedly placed a ring doorbell camera in the victim’s bedroom without her knowledge or permission. The victim says her vehicle was also set on fire. Detectives say some 47 different videos from the ring camera. Palm Beach teachers say they want more of a raise this year. They plan to be out in force at the Palm Beach School Board meeting tonight at 5 p.m. in West Palm. President Gordon Longhofer says the special magistrate’s recommendation was rejected by the superintendent of schools, Michael Burke. The magistrate recommended a 3.5% raise. Longhofer says the superintendent thinks that teachers are not worth that much. We have supported school board members, and we have endorsed them in elections. They must now support us and not turn their backs on teachers like the superintendent has. The district notes student enrollment in public schools is down along with state aid, and they can’t afford that kind of a raise this year. Henry County Commissioners approve $7,450 for the Joseph Project. It’ll sponsor five students in need. The commission had held off on helping the nonprofit last year. Commissioner Emma Byrd says the nonprofit helps Harlem, but also the entire county. Jackie Young is with the Joseph Project. She says they are committed to helping young people in need. We also now have partnered with Healthy Start, and we distribute the free diaper bank for citizens in Cluiston, not just Cluiston, Montoura, Pioneer, Ladeka, Twin Lakes. We do all of Cluiston. Young told commissioners that they also help get senior citizens food from the food bank and provide them other services. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
