I’m Charles Murphy reporting. The City of LaBelle will celebrate 250 years of America on July 4th. They announced they’ll have an unforgettable evening of patriotism, music, family fun, and fireworks at Barron Park with live music, food trucks, and again the fireworks show starting at dusk. They say a 43-year-old Clewiston man is facing trouble for being found in a motel room with a minor child. Jason Hymie is facing charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, interference with custody, and use of a cell phone to commit a felony. Clewiston Police is investigating the incident further. Glades County has been hiring. They have openings for a community development office manager, an emergency operations specialist, and a 911 addressing coordinator. They need a full-time human resources specialist, some laborers, and a library specialist. Also needed are paramedics with firefighter certification, EMTs, and paramedics. They do offer a great benefit package. A LaBelle man allegedly fled from Daytona Beach Police endangering high school kids who had just graduated. 21-year-old Jose Velasquez Chavez was spotted speeding and didn’t pull over right away in Daytona Beach. They say he also ran through several red traffic signals. A 30-year-old Clewiston woman, Edrica Florna, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a pistol. It happened after an argument at home. Alcohol is said to have been a factor. The suspect had been cursing at other residents, being loud and slamming doors. At one point, she allegedly came out of a room brandishing the revolver, making verbal threats. A 29-year-old Clewiston man, Juan Pujol, is facing resisting arrest, drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop by Henry County Sheriff’s deputies. Pujol allegedly fled from Florida Fish and Wildlife about a week earlier in the Montura Estate subdivision. When deputies tried to pull him over, the vehicle increased speed to 140 miles an hour. It also made an aggressive left-hand turn onto Pinecone Avenue and County Road 833, driving around a semi-truck at high speed. Deputies say the vehicle lost traction and spun out multiple times during the chase, and the vehicle even entered a trail running alongside a canal and crashed into a fence. Pujol was seen fleeing on foot down the trail, and a canine unit was deployed to the area. They were able to locate the suspect in a wooded area. There was a large pit bull dog inside the suspect’s vehicle that inhibited the investigation. During a search of the vehicle, they allegedly found narcotics like methamphetamine. Pujol was also charged with fleeing and attempting to elude and driving while license suspended. A passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Ambrose Daly, was also facing charges that include resisting arrest. A 19-year-old Henry County man, Nasir Fleming, is facing charges of fleeing and eluding police at high speed. This chase was in the area of Hicpochee Avenue in LaBelle. Deputies originally responded to a report of vehicles revving their engine and blocking the roadway, similar to a street takeover. Deputies say a business owner had several individuals loitering inside the store and wanted them all removed from the premises. Fleming got into his vehicle and accelerated westbound as the deputy watched at a high speed. The deputy gave pursuit before terminating the pursuit toward Lee County. Later, they located the vehicle and Fleming inside a residence in the LaBelle area. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
