I’m Charles Murphy reporting. Another high-speed chase around Clewiston, 22-year-old Eric Gonzalez is facing several charges for a chase that started in Harlem Academy. Gonzalez allegedly fled an accident with injury on Harlem Academy Avenue. He was spotted on US 27 by deputies near Lewis Boulevard but kept going. The chase went on to Flag Hole Road and ended on US 27 at Airglades Boulevard. Victims in the accident were able to identify Gonzalez from photographs. He also had a suspended driver’s license. Deputies say they found illegal narcotics, some ammunition and $531 in the vehicle. Gonzalez also accused of making verbal threats to harm the deputy. Clewiston resident Kathy Brown asked the city to repair the pavement near Central Elementary School. She says she had to replace her four tires for $1,100 due to damage done driving on the street. She says the pavement is terrible. I park on that disgusting pavement every day for two and a half years with a brand new car that I bought two and a half years ago and it has 20,000 miles on it and today I had to replace all four tires from the pavement that has been rotting my tires out according to Jimmy’s tire service. Cost me $1,180 today. Can you do something about the pavement up there? Henry County and LaBelle Parks and Recreation says improvements at 4A Park are nearly complete with the renovated and improved ball fields and a new concession stand. County Commissioner Mitchell Wills commended the parks and the West Rec performance. I’ve been really hard on Stephen and the guys and I want to commend them tonight publicly. I’ve been hard on them publicly. I want to commend them tonight. Stephen, you guys have turned this park around in the last month and a half so I appreciate it. You guys have been doing a hundred times better and that starts with leadership. County Commissioner Raymond Iglesias would like to be a member of the West Recreation Board. My district of Port LaBelle represents 39 percent of the West Rec’s budget followed by Rowdy at 32 percent and Mitchell at 28 percent. I’m not saying I want y’all off on what I’m saying is if you’re either one of you are considering not being on that board please I want to be on that board come December because I need to represent. I need to be a bigger voice for my people in Port LaBelle. A Belle Glade man who opened fire on two men riding in a lawn service truck was sentenced to 55 years in prison. Edward Schein pled guilty to related charges, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, a felon in possession of a firearm, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. The violent attack occurred on January 28th of last year when Schein drove up to a lawn service truck in a Belle Glade neighborhood. It’s stated he shot at least four rounds at the victim. Both men were uninjured as they were able to duck out of the way. A 44 year old LaBelle man is charged after a chase in Hillsborough County. Joey Anderson is charged with resisting arrest, possession of illegal narcotics, and fleeing and attempting to elude police there. A street crimes unit deputy spotted a vehicle with two dark window tin and tried to pull him over. The arrest report said Anderson didn’t pull over right away and didn’t stop until deputies pulled in front of the vehicle. He also refused to get out of the vehicle. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
