I’m Charles Murphy reporting. During public comment at the Henry County School Board meeting, a resident, Josh Wortham, urged the district to ignore recent vaccine elimination proposals made at the state level. Josh Wortham says you can’t just consider parental rights alone, but the greater good. A parent has the right to decide what is best and the best interest for their children in their private lives and their private matters. However, a parent does not have the right to dictate their desires over the public. He says the state is going down the wrong road with vaccines. This plan is misguided and ill-informed. An overwhelming medical consensus agrees with the safety and effectiveness of vaccines as a means to aid and maintain high levels of public health. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Captain, Emory Payne, had to take a leave of absence from work and has been unable to finalize a policy to fight the noise in Belgrade. He asked for another 30 days to get a recommendation on the agenda for December 17th’s meeting. He says he’s still working to get the best proposal possible. I agree that we have to address the noise complaints in the city. Vice Mayor, Joaquin Almazan, admits that this has gone on for far too long and the problems have begun to pop up again. Help our code enforcement, help our PBSO because if we don’t give them the, through ordinance or stuff, they’re not, I mean, it’s just a laughing situation when the PBSO goes out there and we really, they can’t do too much. They just laugh at them and blow them off. Lee Hill says they’ll expand services for pregnant woman at their offices in LaBelle. Nick Grant made the announcement at a recent state delegation meeting in Moorhaven. Speaking of LaBelle, I know it’s not in Glades County, but we’ve expanded our OBGYN clinic there where it’ll help moms and babies. But how do you staff that? It’s tough getting an OBGYN now, especially with a lot of health systems are closing those offices and clinics in their hospitals. We’re actually running towards it and expanding our OBGYN program through a new residency program we just announced a couple of weeks ago. They’re also working to expand broadband and other services in Glades County. Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers trying to find a Hendry County woman convicted of burglary and grand theft charges. 22-year-old Brianna Rabuini was released from jail in August under the condition that she attend a drug rehab program. However, she jumped the fence to escape and has not been seen since. Authorities believe she’s in the Clewiston area, perhaps with a man 30 years or senior. She also has connections to the Echopee area and the Seminole Tribe Reservation. In Hendry Circuit Court, Sugar Land Harvesting was recently named in a negligence lawsuit over a traffic crash. The accident occurred on May 9th of 2025 along County Road 835. The lawsuit claimed the truck driver was negligent and failed to use due care. Janika Johnson, the plaintiff, seeks damages for permanent injury, medical bills, lost income, mental anguish, and other claims. The City of LaBelle has approved plans to add parking for the Disabled Americans Veterans Flea Market in LaBelle. I’m Charles Murphy, WAFC News.
