I’m Charles Murphy reporting. Henry County Commissioners reclaimed Injury Prevention Day. It honors trauma hospitals and facilities that serve the county like Lee Medical Center. Tracy Horton says it raises awareness for trauma related accidents and injuries. Trauma injuries are increasing 6% year over year. Do ask that people shine a green light. It can be on your homes, it can be your front porch, the government, it can be a local business, a big business. Shine a green light to provide awareness so that we can help keep people injury free. The South Bay Commission approved a contract with WGI to engineer the Tanner Park property, which is tested positive for arsenic. The city received two million from the state to develop the project. LeAndre Camel, the city manager, says they’re overseeing a cleanup of the site. We’re extremely confident that the arsenic levels will not be there once this project is completed. He says the arsenic and pollution problems must be resolved first. We are not able to move forward with the Tanner Park project, demolition, getting it to demolition and vertical construction until we get through all of the environmental issues. US Post Office predicts another busy mailing season. The mailing deadlines next week are December 17 for first class mail and cards and USPS ground packages. The deadline to sign up to help people in need with Operation Santa, you send them cards and gifts, will be Saturday, December 13th. Mary Falcon with the Post Office had some tips to make sure your package is safe. Everybody have their boxes taped up well. We also have tape available for customers. Making sure that their packages, the items inside the boxes are snug in there. They don’t have a lot of wiggle room and that the box is appropriate to what you’re shipping. She says you can also make it easier on your carriers to deliver packages. Making sure that you have your driveway not blocked so that way the carrier can get to your mailbox. If your mailbox is by the door, making sure that the area to your mailbox is clear of any debris. The Glades County Sheriff’s Office 18th annual Cops for Christmas toy giveaway will be held today from three until 5.30 p.m. It’s for children ages 12 and under. A library employee at the Belle Glade Library called the law on July 28th. A patron had videoed the man using the computer and then showed it to staff. The law seized the USBS from the subject after getting a warrant. They looked at the material and found alleged porn. There were 14 alleged videos and 19 images that involved a dog.
