I’m Charles Murphy reporting. Three have been arrested for a home invasion robbery in Henry County. Henry County deputies Monday night responding to a home on State Road 80 East after receiving a call reporting a robbery. The 52 year old victim reported he was sitting outside when two unknown male subjects approached him wearing sweatshirts and face coverings. He was pushed to the ground and beaten several times and pistol whipped. They then tied and bound his hands and feet with zip ties. The victim’s wife came outside to assist, but she was also back into the residence and surrendered $18,000 to the subjects. Detectives continue to follow up leads and found a number of inconsistencies in the wife’s story and they ended up charging her as the third suspect. 64 year old Flora Norris Gonzalez is alleged to have helped orchestrate the attack on her husband. She’s charged with aggravated battery, causing bodily harm, armed robbery, armed burglary and false imprisonment. Also arrested was 48 year old Jose Enrique Calafet Perez with similar charges related to robbery, burglary and false imprisonment. And also 42 year old Mikhail Calafet Calderon. He’s charged with aggravated battery and related offenses. Palm Beach schools hosting several career days for students as the year comes to a close. This year they extended them to certain elementary schools. School board member Erica Whitfield got a lot of comments from students. If you have a $5.6 billion budget, why don’t we have better lunches? Board member Edwin Ferguson continued his verbal campaign against parental choice in private schools in the state and president of the teachers union, Gordon Longhofer says he opposes having data centers located near school as they put off low tone vibrations. If there is something out there that’s going to make it harder for our kids’ brains to grow and for them to learn, we’ve got to be concerned about that. The Pahokee middle high school robotics team has won the state championship. William Baltazar Pahokee middle high school, a junior there was named a sunshine state scholar. Lee County sheriff deputies picking up a clueless man who was caught on camera stealing scrap metal from a business at Meridian center parkway. DeAndre Morrow is facing charges of grand theft. It’s alleged on April 10th, he was part of a group that stole about $20,000 of scrap metal from Suncoast recycling containers. And on April 17th, another theft was in the process when it was caught on camera, an employee noticed and called deputies. They say between seven and $15,000 of stolen metal was found in that investigation. The Clewiston city commission presented the outstanding citizen of the year award to former mayor Christine Peterson. She served in the city police department, rising to assistant chief. She recently served as the instructor for the Cluiston high school public safety program. They recognize Steve Hayes for 43 years of service to the city as he retired Cluiston’s president, the grocery store is being remodeled. They are redoing their infrastructure plans include a deli.
