***TRIGGER WARNING*** The follow story contains details of assault of a sexual nature involving a minor:

On October 12th at 11:30 PM a woman reported to the Hendry County Sheriff’s office that an underaged girl had been sexually battered on multiple occasions by Ramon Monte De Oca. According to the arrest report, the girl revealed that she was sodomized on October 11 while she slept. Other details about the abuse contained in the arrest report are much too graphic to report. At his residence in Pioneer, where he lives with the child’s mother, with whom he shares 3 other children, detectives found evidence consistent with the young girls claims. Ramon Monte De Oca was placed under arrest and charged with sexual battery of a victim under 12 years of age, lewd and lascivious indecent assault, and incest. He is being held in the Henry County Jail with no bond.

Hurricane Models forecast a 20% chance of a new system becoming a tropical depression in the next two days, and 50% chance by the end of the week, but moving eastward or southeastward over the central Atlantic. The Atlantic has been quiet for the last two weeks since Hurricane Sam’s long trek through the Atlantic and became a post-tropical storm on Oct. 5. Hurricane season is still very much active until November 30. If the storm develops maximum sustained winds of 40 mph or more, it will become a tropical or subtropical storm, receiving the name Wanda — it is also the last name on the World Meteorological Organization’s regular-season list. There have been 20 named storms this year.

A panel of U.S. health advisers endorsed doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. An FDA panel voted that the vaccine’s benefits outweigh any potential risks. The FDA is expected to make its own decision within days. If the FDA authorizes the doses for kids, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will have to decide whether to recommend the shots and which kids should get them. While children are at lower risk of severe COVID-19 than older people, 5- to 11-year-olds still have faced a lot of sickness from the virus. Moderna also is studying its vaccine for young children.
