Hurricane Preparedness

General Services Director Danny Williams is cautioning the public, as the 2022 hurricane season is fast approaching! Williams says, after a storm passes, and your power has gone out, here is what you can do to stay safe. Always assume downed power lines are energized. If you see a downed power line, stay away and call 911 or your local utility immediately. Keep away from standing water and debris. They might hide downed power lines. Use caution while driving as power outages may cause traffic signals to stop working. Treat intersections where traffic lights may be out as a four-way stop and proceed with caution. Finally, avoid areas where crews are working. These tips and more will be available in the coming weeks, as we prepare for hurricane season beginning June 1st.
