One of Belle Glade’s own is being honored in a sweet way. Former Jacksonville Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is one of the five new members of the Reese’s Senior Bowl Hall of Fame. Taylor, a 1994 graduate of Glades Central Community High School, spent four years at the University of Florida where he picked up 873 yards and 8 touchdowns, finishing his college career as one of the best running backs in Florida history. Taylor will be among five inductees into the Reese’s Senior Bowl Hall of Fame. He released the following statement: “I am forever grateful for the opportunity to play in the Senior Bowl and honored to be selected to the game’s Hall of Fame”. The Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, established in 1988, includes All-Pros such as Doak Walker, Ray Nitschke, Joe Namath, Mean Joe Green, Walter Payton and now, the Senior Bowl immortalizes Taylor’s performance at Florida and eventually in the NFL. A 32-year-old Clewiston woman is in serious condition following a single vehicle crash yesterday. On April 14 at about 3:35 P.M., the woman was traveling south on CR 835 in Hendry County. Her vehicle traveled off the roadway and collided with a culvert, located on the east grass shoulder. The SUV overturned and the driver was ejected. She was transported by med flight to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

SEXUAL PREDATOR NOTIFICATION: In accordance with Chapter 775 of the Florida Statues, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public about a declared Sexual Predator, Arthur Mccloud, who is now residing at 130 Custard Ct, Pahokee.    

A truck driver was killed in a single vehicle crash yesterday. On April 14 at about 5 A.M., Justo Rodriguez was operating a freightliner northbound on US 27 near the 1000 block in Belle Glade. As the truck approached a left-hand curve in the roadway, Rodriguez drove off the right-hand side of the road, colliding into a fence. It is unknown at this time why vehicle one drove off the roadway, though it is suspected to be a medical issue. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Rodriguez did not survive his injuries. Rodriguez was a resident of Hialeah. He was 62 years old.
