Hendry County Issues Local State of Emergency in Preparation for Tropical Storm Nicole

(November 9, 2022) – LaBelle, Fla. – Hendry County Officials have declared a Local State of Emergency (LSE) effective at 12pm, Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in preparation for the potential threat of Tropical Storm Nicole.

A LSE helps the County prepare for and respond to situations such as tropical storms.

Hendry County officials encourage residents to prepare for the possibility of tropical storm conditions beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing through the day on Thursday.

Preparations should include ensuring yard debris is cleared and loose items are secured.

Residents are also encouraged to sign up for Hendry County related emergency alerts by texting “HENDRYFLA” to 888777.

Hendry County Waste Pick-up Suspended for Thursday, November 10

(November 9, 2022) – LaBelle, Fla. – Due to potential impacts from Tropical Storm Nicole, Hendry County waste services are suspended for Thursday, November 10.

Regular pick-up service will resume Friday, November 11, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Residents who have a Thursday waste pick-up will be collected on Monday.

All trash cans, recycling bins and other loose items should be secured to prevent these items from becoming flying debris or blocking drainage.

Residents should not place curbside any bulk items such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, etc. for pickup by the County’s franchise hauler Waste Connections until after the storm passes.
