Florida will be the first state to offer a mobile option for drivers’ licenses beginning next year. The DMV will offer licenses that will be available through an app on smartphones and tablets. The licenses will be as valid as traditional licenses and has an extra layer of security, so people won’t have to worry about identity theft and fraud, as mobile licenses are harder to counterfeit. Thales, the company that will act as a Credential Service Provider, Thales said users of mobile driver licenses control what information is displayed from the app depending on the context. For example, to enter a casino, it only needs to show that the individual is old enough and the mobile driver’s license will just display that information – not the individual’s name, date of birth, or address. The DMV has yet to announce an exact date when mobile licenses will be available. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20201013005021/en/

A few hours after the school posted those numbers, all football activities were shut down. The Gators are scheduled to play LSU at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. More information about this situation overall will be reevaluated today by the university’s medical staff. A news source reports that since the players returned to campus on May 26, there have been 37 positive tests on the football team.
