A teenager from Belle Glade is facing murder charges stemming from a shooting incident that happened at a motel in Clewiston. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said 17-year-old Timothy J. Anderson, shot and killed one woman, and injured another. The shooting happened at the West Express Inn a month ago today. The woman who survived the attack was shot in the head. The second woman died from multiple gunshot wounds. Their names have not been released. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anderson at a home in Belle Glade yesterday. Anderson is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center without bond.

Governor DeSantis announced additional COVID-19 vaccination sites across the state of Florida through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. The sites will begin offering COVID-19 vaccines on Friday, February 12 at 490 pharmacy locations across 52 counties including Hendry and Okeechobee. For the first week, the state is expecting to receive 65,300 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Future allocations will be announced as they become available. The following three supermarket pharmacies will offer it locally beginning on the 12th: The Publix location in Okeechobee County, Walmart locations in Hendry and Okeechobee Counties, and the Winn-Dixie location Hendry. Anytime a sex offender is released from law enforcement custody, the releasing agency is legally required to inform the public. In that vein, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public about 63-year-old declared Sexual Predator, Charles Jackson. Jackson is now residing on Everglades Street in Canal Point

The City of Belle Glade is preparing for their 2021 city election. City Clerk Debra Buff, says the waiting time for residents will be lowered, by bringing valid picture ID to the polls on Election Day Tuesday, March 9 and also on March 23, if a Run-Off is necessary. There is one concession to this: all registered voters will be permitted to vote, even if you fail to bring proper identification, by casting a Provisional Ballot. Qualified registered voters shall cast their vote at one of the following locations: Depending on your precinct your polling location could be the Belle Glade Library/Civic Center, the Lewis Evans Resource Center, or Gove Elementary School.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will meet virtually Feb. 25 and 26 beginning at 9 a.m. ET each day. This meeting is being held by communications media technology, specifically using Adobe Connect with a telephone conference line for accepting public comments during the meeting.
