As of the last report released at 11 a.m. August 27th, there are 3,269 new positive COVID-19 cases and 135 reported deaths. To date, there are a total of 611,991 Florida cases with 10,868 deaths related to COVID-19. Hendry county has a total 1953 and 29 deaths. Glades County has 425 and 3 deaths. The Florida Department of Health in Hendry and Glades Counties will offer free COVID-19 testing at several locations in the community for adults, and children over 5. No appointment needed on Saturday August 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hendry County Courthouse in LaBelle, and Sunday August 30, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Harlem Civic Center in Clewiston. 

The Southwest-Central Florida Corridor includes the Glades, Lee and Hendry counties among others, and extends from Collier County to Polk County. A Task Force, consisting of 47 members from state agencies to non-profit organizations, and environmental groups, is developing recommendations regarding the potential economic and environmental impacts of the corridor, as well as other factors specified in the M-CORES legislation. M-Cores had their task force open house last night in LaBelle. They are scheduled to submit a final report on the proposed Corridor to Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature by November 15, 2020. Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County is searching for Angela Hunter. Her last known address is Banyan Avenue Pahokee. She is wanted for failure to appear for possession of MDMA and driving without a valid license. Hendry County will be conducting mosquito spraying over LaBelle Acres (Case and Evans Roads), LaBelle Ranchettes (Alphabet Roads), and South LaBelle, today, weather permitting. Saturday, August 29th, Sunday, August 30th and Monday, August 31st will serve as make-up days. These operations will continue throughout the remainder of the year as mosquito levels warrant.
